Government House Historical Society

The Government House Historical Society is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1981. The Mission of the Society is to preserve, promote and enhance Government House as a public heritage site. The Society sponsors the annual Antiquities, Appraisal and Auction event in August each year and the more formal Black Tie Auction in the fall, the Dickens Yuletide concerts held in the Ballroom of the beautifully decorated Government House in mid-December featuring the Dickens Yuletide singers, and the monthly Victorian teas have long been a favorite of local and international visitors. The teas are reminiscent of those in Victorian times sponsored entirely by volunteers who do the baking, greet and serve visitors in period costume. Established by the Society in 2008 is Jocko's Club for junior members.
