The Traditional Karen New year (20764)
The Karen people from Burma have faced cultural persecution for centuries, resulting in the loss of many valuable cultural tools and arts. We lost our ancient scripts just half a decade ago. Since we immigrated to Canada, we have a bright future ahead to save and preserve our culture. We are grateful and proud to have a classroom to learn our own language, which gives us hope to preserve and promote our culture.
This Karen New Year event is organized to revitalize cultural events and festivals, leading to the promotion of cultural diversity benefits. Many Karen cultural activities will be preformed at this event, paving the way for Karen cultural recognition. This fulfills our motto of marching forward with the spirit of brotherhood towards cultural diversity development.
