Although people can feel a deep connection to these historic structures, it’s challenging to find new uses for them that will ensure their survival and continued contributions to community life. In this presentation, Linday Alliban will share how communities can establish non-profit cooperatives to support heritage conservation and economic development. You will hear how the community of Gull Lake is using this model to rejuvenate and revitalize a local heritage property known as the Youngberg Block.

Hear how these important expressions of Indigenous heritage have been preserved through the cooperative efforts of the local community, landowners and Indigenous people, and how working together has promoted inter cultural understanding and reconciliation.
