Workshop Other

Mental Health, Anti-Stigma and Public Awareness.

Experts say between 1 in 3 and 1 in 5 people will experience a mental illness at some point in their life, and more than half of people living with illness live in silence, fearing judgment and rejection. SaskCulture is pleased to partner with the Schizophrenia Society of Saskatchewan to break the stigma and provide a public awareness webinar designed to promote treatment and recovery from schizophrenia and related mental illnesses.

This panel will consist of three speakers, two will share their stories and experiences living with mental illness, and the third will provide an overview of schizophrenia and other major mental illnesses, common stigmas, mental health resources, and how to access them.

Presenters:
Austin Holonics has been with the Schizophrenia Society for just over 2 years and comes from the family member background who lost his brother in 2020 after battling bouts of psychosis for over a year that landed him in the correctional facility.

Adriana Marella-Wolfe is a retired teacher. She has a home-based business called People of the Archangel Publications, along with craft and trade shows. Adriana loves to travel, write, knit, and crochet.

Marina Pelletier is a 25-year-old, Two-Spirit woman. She has Schizoaffective disorder with paranoid Delusions and ADHD.
