The Swift Current Museum works to disseminate the knowledge and content contained in its archival holdings to school groups, on-site visitors, and electronic visitors through engagement and interaction.
Reporting to the Collections Officer and the Museum Director of the Swift Current Museum, the Project Archivist’s primary focus will be to process recent archival donations according to RAD and modern collections standards. Research, appraisal, arrangement, description, and physical processing of the archival donations will occur in an operating heritage institution. The outcomes of the project will include RAD compliant descriptions and arrangement of the archival collection, easier access for the public and staff, and high-quality descriptions on MemorySask (AtoM) and Archives Canada.

• Organization, care, storage, and preservation of the archival collection according to the professional standards established by the Canadian Council of Archives.
• Assist in facilitating access to the archival collection.
• Recommend actions and strategies to improve the management of the archival collection.
• Provide recommendations for the preventative conservation and physical care of holdings.
• Disseminate archival knowledge to fellow staff members through policies governing the operation of the archives, and the care and administration of its holdings.
• Monitor the archives and liaise with the Collections Officer regarding any concerns.
• Coordinate with the Provincial Archives Advisor to facilitate the management and maintenance of the Swift Current Museum’s descriptions on MemorySask (AtoM).

Required Qualifications
• A graduate of a recognized Masters in Archival Science program or equivalent (MLIS, etc.). A combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Experience working in an archival or heritage setting.
• Strong knowledge of RAD.
• Knowledge of electronic archival databases.
• Ability to provide a suitable Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
• The ability to lift and/or move 22.5kg and traverse stairs.

Desired Qualifications
• Familiarity with AtoM.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work with others.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
