Assistant Site Coordinator Needed for the Nutrien Children’s Festival of Saskatchewan

This position is only open to current and returning post-secondary school students.

Start date: May 2, 2022
End date: June 10, 2022

Mandate of the Festival:

Our mission: An arts-based festival where children play and learn.

Our vision: The Nutrien Children’s Festival of Saskatchewan is recognized as an important event in the cultural landscape of Saskatchewan. As an internationally recognized festival, we cultivate a passion for curiosity and exploration in children through inclusive, diversified, and multicultural programming. Our programming is progressive – it evolves to reflect our community and encourages children to learn about themselves, each other, and the world around them.

Length of job: 6 weeks, 30 hours per week (hours are flexible – some evenings and weekends will be required); $15/hour.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Help to schedule activities from diverse community partners at the festival.
• Assist in positioning activities and coordinating performances, artists’ arrivals, backstage technical requirements, etc.
• Help administer the Community Outreach program.
• Assist with the set up and tear down of the festival site.
• Assist with all logistics on site.
• Promote the festival as required.
• Distribute festival information to local neighbourhood and community associations.
• Help to plan and manager logistics with regards to school groups arriving and departing.
• Help to schedule venue facilitators arrival and departure.
• Help to coordinate the Swag Bag program to a diverse array of provincial charities working with children as well as the general public.
• Collecting material for the festival’s Swag Bag Program and assist in the creation the bags.
• Organizing the delivery of all bags.
• Collecting information for reporting on this outreach program.
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Legally allowed to work in Canada.
• Must be a current and returning university student.
• Good communications skills and attention to detail is a must.
• Must be able to conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner.
• Extremely responsibly and organized.
• Strong time-management skills a must.
• Comfortable working independently as well as in a team setting.
• Must work well with children.
• Must have your own computer to work on and your own workspace at home.
• Comfortable working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
• A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle if needed.
• Required to pass and submit a Saskatoon Police Service Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Must show proof of full vaccination.
• Must agree to being masked while in the office and onsite (if required).

Please note: the majority of the work in this position is intended to be in a small office setting where limited staff will be in attendance and where strict social distancing, masking, and sanitation practices will be implemented. The successful candidate will work from home as well as in-office and on-site.
