The Art Gallery of Regina is hiring a summer Art Educator for July and August. The role of Art Educator is an entry-level position and includes on-the-job training to develop skills relevant to arts administration and programming. Working in a collaborative, artist-run setting, the Art Educator will be responsible for:

Greeting gallery visitors and engaging in conversation with visitors about exhibitions on display;

Leading public tours, both online and in-person;

Leading art activities and programming, both online and in-person;

Leading workshops (online and in-person);

Under the guidance of the Curator, developing tour content and art activities;

Scanning and preparing materials for the archives;

Assisting with exhibition installation and take-down;

Assisting with member communications, such as mailouts, social media, and membership administration;

Processing registrations, membership renewals and other financial transactions;

Assisting staff with planning and implementing workshops, partner programming, and other programs.



Qualifications:

Interest in contemporary art and creating approachable opportunities for others to learn about art;

Excellent English language communication skills, both written and spoken;

Able to work independently and harmoniously as part of a small team;

Personable and comfortable with public speaking and leading art activities online and in-person;

Computer literacy, including knowledge of word processing, email, website maintenance and image editing software;

Meticulous attention to detail, especially concerning data entry and payments;

Able to use or learn to use online platforms such as Zoom, Youtube, and Instagram;

The Art Educator position is funded through the Canada Jobs Program. Candidates must meet the following requirements determined by the Canada Jobs Program:

Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;

Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;

Legally entitled to work in Canada.



The following are assets but not necessary:

Speaking a second language;

Experience working with children;

A background in art, such as currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a BFA program;

Experience in creating or teaching art;

A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle;

Volunteer experience in the museum or gallery sector.

The Art Educator job sometimes requires physical labour, such as lifting heavy plinths, painting the main gallery, and assisting with installation as requested by the Curator.
