The WDM Corporate Office in Saskatoon is looking for a Curatorial Assistant Intern to assist the WDM in achieving its public trust responsibilities through the care and stewardship of the WDM artifact collections. The intern will research and assess a collection of artifact furniture to make informed deaccession recommendations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Plan, manage and carry out detailed research and assessment of artifacts in the WDM’s furniture collection stored at the WDM Corporate Office in Saskatoon.
• Identify and document significant artifacts in the furniture collection and those that are candidates for deaccessioning.
• Prepare deaccession recommendations and assist with the disposal process.

This position requires excellent research skills as well as a high level of self-direction, organization and meticulous attention to record keeping. Significant physical effort is required to move and handle artifact furniture. The Curatorial Assistant Intern will hold a degree in Museum Studies, History, or a closely related field and is expected to apply specialized knowledge and skills to ensure collections standards are met. The ability to work well with diverse groups, including members of the public, is essential.

The hourly wage is $21.35. The work schedule is 72 hours per 2-week pay period. The internship starts on September 12, 2022 and ends March 25, 2023. To learn more visit www.wdm.ca/careers
