PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION: To be responsible for the overall brand and messaging of the festival, as well as developing & maintaining strong sponsor relationships.

NOTE: A second part-time position for Director of Development & Donor Relations has also been posted. Should the right candidate present, a full-time position combining the portfolios of both positions is possible. Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Festival (SOTS) has been producing the works of William Shakespeare in repertory on Treaty 6 territory on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River since 1985, attracting over 10,000 visitors provincially, nationally, and internationally annually to our summer festival. We strive to create a warm, relaxing, and inviting atmosphere for our patrons so they can truly enjoy their theatrical experience.

As part of the year-round team, the Director of Marketing & Communications plays a crucial role in promoting the festival to our audience as well as building meaningful and impactful relationships with sponsors, and key stakeholders. Reporting to the General Manager, this position is responsible for the overall branding of the festival and for meeting annual sponsorship and sales targets.
We’re looking for an outgoing and fearless individual brimming with creativity and drive. The ideal candidate has superior oral and written communication skills, should love working and connecting with people, and will be adept at relationship building. They will enjoy a friendly, relaxed and causal working environment where collaboration is key. Someone who can say YES, AND while managing multiple high-level portfolios.

As a small team our staff wear many hats. The time requirements for the duties detailed below ebb and flow with the seasonality of our organization.

Key duties and responsibilities:
Sponsorship:
• Create and implement an annual plan to meet sponsorship targets.
• Write, arrange, and pitch all existing & prospect sponsorships.
• Develop, cultivate, and improve sponsor relationships with the company.
• Ensure all sponsor recognition promises are fulfilled.
• Work alongside Director of Development & Donor Relations to secure naming rights of festival site capital assets
Marketing & Sales:
• Create and implement a marketing plan (both traditional & digital) to ensure sales targets are met.
• Create and manage the marketing department budgets.
• Create and implement strategies to attract, maintain, and engage audience members.
• Plan, manage, and implement social media content creation.
• Arrange, facilitate, or carry out all website maintenance and graphic design needs for the organization
Publicity and Communications:
• Communicate with media, staff, and artists in a professional manner.
• Represent the company by running media calls, pre-show chats, and giving live and pre-recorded interviews
• Maintain a knowledge of the CTA & ADC rules and guidelines around publicity.
• Ensure the consistency, clarity, and accuracy of all communications, expand the company’s public profile, and generate interest in company projects.

Qualifications/Experience
• 1 to 3 years of experience showing progressive levels of responsibility
• Post-secondary training in a related field considered an asset.
• Prior experience running multimedia marketing campaigns.
• Strong knowledge of various social media platforms & digital marketing
• Prior experience in creating strong and creative sponsorship pitches an asset.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Theatre and/or Arts industries an asset

• Able to work some evenings/weekends as required by summer festival schedule

Salary Range
$23-$24/hr based on experience & education
Permanent, part-time based on 20 hours per week, year-round.
