The Grounds Maintenance Assistant’s main responsibility will be to support the maintenance of the grounds and equipment. The Grounds Maintenance Assistant will ensure that the grounds are esthetically pleasing and safe for visitors. They will also assist with the set-up of special events and functions. Weekend work is required. Only students continuing full-time post-secondary studies in the fall semester will be considered.

DUTIES:
Grounds maintenance including:
- Trim caragana hedge, trees and shrubs.
- Cut grass that tractor cannot reach with a push mower.
- Weed and water flowers and trees.
- Plant, weed, water and maintain garden.
- Special Events and Programming.
- Assist with the set-up and dismantling of special events and programs held in the Museum.
- Assist with artifact and exhibit security.

8 weeks from July 3 - August 25, 2023. 40 hours per week. 8:45 am to 5:15 pm. Shifts include weekday, weekend, and occasional evening work.

This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs.

The candidate must be:
- between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
- a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and
- legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
