Museum Administrative Assistant – Summer Position

The Kronau Heritage Museum seeks a Museum and Administrative Assistant for summer employment commencing May 15-September 1 2024 (30 hrs/week, 16 weeks, $18.00/hr) based on available funding.

Duties include:
A. To document the new feature exhibition, including creating a written description with accompanying images/videos on our website. To develop age appropriate, interactive activities related to the new exhibition for visitors.

B. To actively promote the new exhibition through regular social media posts on various platforms, featuring various components/themes and corresponding artifacts.

C. To document and work on the development of a fourth “Museum In A Suitcase” program based on the new exhibition

D. To assist with the Museum’s “Simple Fun Family Festival” including volunteer coordination, coordination of equipment/supplies and entertaining/programming. To assist with the marketing and promotion of this event.

E. To assist the Museum in all areas of marketing, including but not limited to social media, website, development of promotional tools and media releases. To ensure that the Facebook page is updated regularly, track these statistics and to draft articles/provide photographs for inclusion on the Museum’s website and printed materials.

F. The candidate will also learn and apply applicable safety protocols by the Saskatchewan Health Authority regarding keeping visitors/staff/volunteers safe when physically at the museum.

G. To be responsible for the opening/closing of the Museum facilities and to keep the museum buildings clean, tidy and professional in appearance for visitors and volunteers. This position will also be responsible for weeding, watering and general appearance of the museum grounds.

H. To be a positive ambassador for the Museum and provide a high quality of customer service to our visitors and volunteers.

I. To provide the Kronau Museum Board and committee with input and feedback from program participants and visitors.

J. To track visitorship at the Museum over the summer.

K. To ensure that the Museum, its artifacts, displays and assets are protected from damage and leave the space in a useable/presentable condition at the conclusion of each program or activity.

L. To assist the Museum Board/committees with administrative tasks such as minute preparation, correspondence and other administrative duties as determined by the Board.

Requirements:
Candidates will be full time post-secondary students with excellent written and verbal English skills and eligible to participate in the Young Canada Works Program. The individual should have excellent interpersonal skills, a demonstrated ability to think independently and creatively, and to work well as part of a team. The candidate should have familiarity with computers and basic office equipment. Experience with project management would be considered an asset.
The individual must be able to create accurate, detailed records. The candidate will document work completed over the summer and provide written final evaluations of projects undertaken. A demonstrated interest in history and demonstrated community involvement (paid or unpaid) would be an asset. Due to the location of this position, candidates must possess a reliable vehicle and hold a valid driver’s license, the successful applicant will be required to provide a police check before hiring.
