Collections and Administrative Assistant - Internship

The Kronau Heritage Museum seeks a Collections and Administrative Assistant for an intern contract commencing August 5-December 20, 2024 (35 hrs/week, 20 weeks, $20/hr)

Candidates must qualify under the Young Canada Works Internship for Recent Graduates Program:
• are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent resident status are not eligible);
• are legally entitled to work in Canada (have a valid social insurance number);
• are between 16 and 30 years of age inclusively at the start of employment; and
• are a college or university graduate (certificate, bachelor's, master's or doctorate).
Duties Include:
Collection Management/Documentation
- Relocation of artifacts to upgraded collection storage area with updated location records for all artifacts currently catalogued. Storage of artifacts in shelving units/racks will be done according to museum standards
- To fully document a minimum of 75 additional artifacts not currently catalogued
- To upgrade/transfer existing records to SaskCollections (Museums Association of Saskatchewan databased program)

Programs
- To work with the Board in the planning/execution/evaluation of two community based programs in the fall/early winter 2024 including but not limited to volunteer scheduling, determining equipment/supplies required for each program
- To promote the programs through social media, website

Administration
- To develop networks with existing partners, volunteers, other museums
- To attend all Board meetings to provide input and update work activities as assigned
- To maintain Museum records such as minutes, correspondence and documentation of events.
- To assist with the drafting of sponsorship/grant proposals and interim reports
- Opening and closing of the facility and provide the Facility Committee with updates related to any concerns
- To ensure that the grounds are kept clean in the fall months

Requirements:

The ideal candidate would be a university graduate with a degree in history or related studies. An Honours or post graduate degree would be an asset.

The candidate would require good working knowledge of Microsoft programs, social media and website maintenance (Wordpress).

He/she must be able to work independently and meet deadlines. The successful candidate will need to possess strong written and verbal communication skills and have a demonstrated ability to problem solve. He/she must also have the demonstrated ability to work with accuracy and with a high level of detail.

Experience working with teams, strong time management and organizational skills are required. Any previous volunteer experience would be considered an asset.

Due to the location of this position, the individual will require a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
