The Saskatchewan Association of Theatre Professionals is seeking an Interim Executive Director (or interim co-leadership) to steer the organization throughout 2024 as it continues to offer creative development and vocational support to a rapidly growing membership of live performing art practitioners and organizations across the province.

Formed in 2014 to represent the needs of Saskatchewan's theatre artists to government agencies, SATP has also developed programs and supports to further the development of individual artistic careers and support the efforts of Saskatchewan theatres and producing companies. Key initiatives have included our professional theatre mentorship program and the planning and development of TheatreCon, Saskatchewan's first provincial conference for theatre practitioners and leaders.

Since 2020 and the onset of the devastating COVID-19 pandemic, our membership has more than quadrupled in number, and we face a challenging yet exciting opportunity to develop programs and services that will support rebuilt and revitalized communities of artists and creative entrepreneurs during a time of profound societal change.

Between now and the end of 2024, SATP's board will be working with our staff on a thorough consultation with our members regarding their needs and their ideas for SATP programming and supports. This feedback will be incorporated into a renewed strategic plan that reflects our sector's post-pandemic realities.

SATP's interim leadership could be shared by two individuals. The Interim Executive Director position(s) will be in effect until December 31, 2024. Those selected to assume the role will be invited to apply for a permanent position that will be filled in early 2025 through a public call for applications.

Our ideal interim executive director(s):
-is passionate about the value and potential of the live performing arts in Saskatchewan, and prepared to advocate to government and the public on their behalf;
-has experience in developing and evaluating programs and services rooted in the expressed and researched needs of membership;
-has experience in developing and expanding the funding and resource base of nonprofit organizations;
-seeks, maintains, and values alliances and collaborations that can best leverage our resources and the resources of our allies and partners;
-is committed to ever-improving communications and engagement with our members; and
-brings competency in essential administrative tasks such as budget preparation and financial monitoring, preparation of board meeting materials, reporting to funders and regulatory bodies, etc.

The executive director's duties include:
-Preparing annual operational and programming plans and budgets, and monitoring SATP's expenses and revenues;
-Preparing our annual funding submission and final reports to Creative Saskatchewan, our primary funder;
-Administering and overseeing the rollout, maintenance, and evaluation of SATP programs and initiatives;
-Overseeing development and organization of TheatreCon, SATP's conference for theatre practitioners and leaders;
-Ensuring SATP's legal and regulatory compliance as a registered nonprofit entity;
-Preparing information packages for our volunteer board of directors and consulting/conferring with the board on an ongoing basis;
-Ensuring that SATP's governance manual and bylaws are up-to-date;
-Serving as a primary point of contact for SATP members: responding to online and telephone inquiries within agreed-upon office hours, and leading consultation/feedback processes that engage members and ensure their priorities, needs, and values are honoured.

This is currently a full-time position that requires the incumbent to work from home and offers an annual salary of $48,000 plus basic benefits. However, the salary, workspace, and total working hours are negotiable, pending discussions and agreements with the selected candidate(s). We invite co-applications from individuals interested in sharing the above responsibilities and compensation within a co-leadership model.

At this time, we are only accepting applications from Saskatchewan residents.
