Facility and Grounds Technician

The Facility and Grounds Technician supports the WDM by ensuring Museum buildings, grounds and equipment are meticulously maintained through effective coordination of tasks and projects. Identifies and coordinates repairs and improvements required for the sustainability of Museum assets and in alignment with risk management initiatives. Informs and implements maintenance plans for buildings and equipment. Undertakes special projects as assigned by the Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinates and facilitates maintenance of buildings, grounds, systems, tools, vehicles and equipment.
• Routinely inspects and maintains buildings and building system including electrical, HVAC, sprinkler and alarm systems. Ensures they are effective, operational and maintained to a high standard.
• Conducts routine inspections of safety systems and protocols to identify and resolve issues or gaps.
• Evaluates and maintains adequate PPE supplies; ensures safety procedures are posted and followed.
• Works with OH&S to address concerns and procedural improvements in workspaces.
• Collaborates with the exhibits team for gallery reconfigurations, traveling exhibit setup/takedown, and exhibit maintenance initiatives.
• Processes purchase orders, quote requests, and expense forms.
• Maintains accurate maintenance schedules, reports, and inventory logs.
• Oversees volunteers working in shop areas to ensure areas and equipment are used safely and proper PPE is being utilized.
Qualifications:
• Relevant certificate, a minimum 5-6 years of pertinent experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Must be able to acquire Forklift and Aerial Lift Certification.
• Class 5 driver’s license
• Knowledge of Office 365 software (Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
Additional Information:
• Work Schedule: 72 hours per 2-week pay period.
• Hours: Monday - Friday 8:45 am - 5:15 pm. Some evening and weekend work required.
