Museum Associate
Western Development Museum, Moose Jaw

Supports the WDM Moose Jaw in achieving its public trust responsibilities through providing exceptional visitor services and assisting with the delivery of a wide range of programs and events to diverse audiences. Works cooperatively with all members of the staff team to create a positive museum experience. Undertakes special projects as assigned by the Museum Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Greets and orients visitors, provides information about the Museum, local attractions, and volunteer opportunities.
• Manages admissions, gift shop sales, and membership promotion; performs light cleaning in public areas.
• Supports the planning and delivery of programs and events, including setup, participant supervision, activity assistance, and evaluation.
• Assists with seasonal attractions (e.g., Short Line 101 rides) and exhibit setup, including photographing artifacts and preparing displays.
• Helps develop community engagement initiatives and builds relationships with local schools and educators.
• Coordinates and supports volunteers involved in programs and events.
• Aids in promotion through social media, bulletin boards, and other communication channels.
• Completes administrative duties, including managing the online booking system and opening Museum spaces.
• Performs other tasks as assigned to support daily Museum operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent & a minimum 1-2 years of pertinent experience in retail sales, customer service
• Enthusiastic about engaging with diverse visitors of all ages and abilities.
• Knowledgeable and interested in Saskatchewan’s heritage and culture.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; effective interpersonal engagement.
• Works well independently and as part of a team.
• Inclusive, respectful, and professional in all interactions.
• Responsible, adaptable, and maintains high integrity.
• Well-organized and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
The work schedule is part time casual with up to 15 hours per week. This position includes paid sick leave, life & disability insurance, and participation in the Public Employees’ Pension Plan (with employer contribution matching).
