Qualifications:
Using their strong scenic painting skills and attention to detail, the successful candidate must be able to accurately translate the scenic painting design from drawings to full scale. The successful candidate will be skilled, knowledgeable, flexible, keen to learn, and a team player.

Duties:
Reporting to the Technical Director and Director of Production, this position works closely with the other members of the production and design teams to accurately achieve the visual aesthetics laid out by the designers.

The successful candidate should:
• Have a thorough knowledge of scenic paint techniques and products used in the world of theatre
• Be able to communicate effectively with designers to establish the designer’s desired aesthetic of the show being designed.
• Be responsible for the maintenance of the paint shop in a safe and efficient manner
• Be able to effectively communicate and correspond with Designers, Directors and Stage Managers
• Have strong time management skills and be able to work towards a deadline
• Have the ability and flexibility to work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends and Stat holidays
• Attend all staff and production meetings and be a member of the Health & Safety Committee if required
• Adhere to all aspects of the Collective Agreement between Globe Theatre and I.A.T.S.E. Local 295.
• Assist with set construction, props building and/or shopping as directed by the Technical Director
• Possess a Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract.


Compensation:
• This is a full-time, seasonal position, generally employed from early fall through June. For the 2025-2026 season, the Head of Scenic Painting dates will be as early as August 18, 2025 through Saturday, June 27, 2026. Start date is negotiable for the right candidate.
• This position falls under the Collective Agreement between Globe Theatre and IATSE 295. Wage structures, overtime rates, minimum work week hours, and yearly wage increases, etc. are determined by the Collective Agreement. The qualified candidate will be required to join IATSE 295 if they are not already a member.
• The wage for the 2025-2026 season will be $30.19 per hour, a minimum of 35 hours per week during seasonal engagement dates. Any overtime worked (more than 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week) is paid at time and a half.
