Hardanger Drop-In Classes
This class is open to persons interested in learning Hardanger Embroidery. Prior to the pandemic, with financial support from SK Culture and Saskatchewan Lotteries, we were able to offer a basic Hardanger class. We had hoped to hold drop-in evenings, following the initial classes, so that participants could practice the learnings and complete their projects. These 4 evenings are an opportunity to do this.
If there are persons who missed the basic class, this is an opportunity to learn basic skills.
Hardanger originated in the Middle East and spread to Europe and in particular Italy. It was picked up by Norwegians on their seafaring trips and seem to have flourished there, particularly in the Hardanger region. Being sheep farmers, they had the raw materials in wool and linen for the craft. This beautiful craft has more recently become quite popular.
