The Book Spine Poetry Contest is an annual contest run by the Saskatchewan Library Association and hosted each fall, overlapping with Culture Days. This year’s contest runs from September 19 – October 12, 2025.
What is book spine poetry? In book spine poetry, a poem is created by stacking books on top of each other, with each title on the spine of a book making up a line in the poem.
The contest features four age categories: children (ages 5 to 8), children (ages 9 to 12), teens (ages 13 to 18), and adults (ages 19 and up). The winner in each age category receives a $100 McNally Robinson gift card. The second place winner in each category receives $50 gift card, and third place a $25 gift card. This contest is open to Saskatchewan residents only.
