Celebrating the meaning and making of Ribbon Skirts

Join Cree educator and beadwork artist, Sylvia Thorburn for her presentation of Ribbon Skirts, their cultural significance and continued creative evolution as Indigenous displays of cultural pride.

Explore the meaning, beauty and creativity of ribbon skirts and how they keep evolving and are worn with pride by Indigenous women at special events! Sylvia, an accomplished Cree beader, educator and story teller will share stories of community and bring beading examples along with ribbon skirts to teach how these beautiful art expressions are made! Prepare to come and have fun!

Sylvia will share stories and teach some basic beading techniques.

Participants will have the opportunity to Paint a Hand Drum with dot art or free-style. (morning & afternoon)
